During the interview, the supervisor said, “Do you think accounting will be that easy?” They sarcastically criticized me for not having experience in this area and asked whether I thought I would know accounting from the beginning. I never said I would know it from the start. You have to first understand the company’s processes and operations, as well as have a thorough understanding of the manufacturing industry. They kept sarcastically implying that my experience was insufficient. I said that you have to join the company to learn about each company’s situation. In short, they made all kinds of sarcastic remarks. By the end, I was thinking, “Then why not find someone within the company to take over the accounting position?” They thought I was unsuitable, yet still invited me to an interview. It’s not that I think too highly of myself, but when I initially answered how I would get up to speed with the work and its content, they just kept rebutting everything I said. This wasn’t a debate, and it felt disrespectful to the interviewee. They adopted a superior attitude, but when asked about the company’s benefits, policies, and size, they made me feel as though I was wasting my time. It’s not as if the company’s size and benefits were particularly impressive or worth joining—was that really necessary?
