This company operates out of a standalone building. When I first entered, the woman I encountered spoke rather rudely and told me to change my shoes at the entrance before coming in. But how would someone know that if they had never been there before? Its main business involves prepress work: color separation, proofing, design, graphic arts and finalization, offset printing/CTP, and film output. However, during the actual interview, the interviewer said there is very little design work, and that the designer would need to help clients with print proofreading, imposition and plate production, and learn how to output for printing... (Does a graphic designer become a printing technician? 🤔)

They repeatedly emphasized that they do not simply do design, and said, “Your experience is probably all purely design-related, right? If you come to our company, there will be a lot to relearn, so we can only offer NT$26,000!” The probation period is three months, after which the salary may be adjusted based on ability. This kind of arrangement is really scary ( ꒪Д꒪)ノ—whether they adjust your salary is entirely up to them. The company only has an output department and a design department, and there are also many unreasonable policies. For example, you only get three days of annual leave after completing one year of service (but under the Labor Standards Act, you get it after six months!), and the maximum annual leave is supposedly only seven days! (But that is clearly not correct.)

And it gets even more outrageous! The government stipulates that sick leave may not exceed 30 days in a year, but this company actually said that you can take at most three days of sick leave per year, and you must provide a doctor’s certificate. In other words!! Any sick leave beyond three days will be deducted from your full salary!! ψ(`∇´)ψ Wow! They really know how to exploit workers—give them a round of applause! There are no other benefits. If labor and health insurance and the pension contribution are included, they consider those benefits!

This company rarely asks you any questions. The interview lasted half an hour, and the interviewer spent the entire time talking about things you had not learned. When I asked whether there was anything I should know about the company, they said that business in the company’s industry is currently contracting and that there is not much design work available for you to do. \(--)/

Then why are you recruiting a graphic designer? I suggest everyone avoid this trap.
