At the company, you get to work directly on projects. If you encounter problems, the team leader will guide you and help you improve, so you can learn quite a lot. Although I was not happy there, I am still grateful for the company's guidance.

Although the working hours are supposedly 9:30–18:30, unpaid overtime under the responsibility-based work system is common. Occasionally, you may work from 9:30–22:30; normally, it is 9:30–20:30. The company says that overtime is not mandatory, but they will tell you to finish your tasks before leaving. I recommend that newcomers or people who are not naturally talented should not join unless they are prepared to work overtime and learn diligently. Otherwise, the pressure can be quite intense, and you may even be singled out, which can make you uncomfortable.

The company also requires a three-month probationary period, during which the team leader evaluates how much you improve and whether you are helpful to the company or have any particular strengths. If your abilities are considered inadequate, you may be dismissed midway through the probationary period and told directly that you are not trying hard enough or lack talent. Therefore, I recommend that only people who are mentally prepared and have very high stress tolerance consider joining.

I am simply someone who enjoys making 3D models, but I lack natural talent and have poor stamina, so this type of work is not a good fit for me.

Buy everyone drinks once a month?

They treat you like an elementary school student when you join. One supervisor has a very poor attitude toward newcomers, speaks impatiently, and often ignores important questions or responds inconsistently. They also roll their eyes. There is excessive overtime; sometimes you work until almost dawn and have no choice but to take a taxi home. Management gives conflicting instructions, and assignments are unclear.

The work is disorganized. Half the time after joining, you end up doing odd jobs—cleaning toilets, running errands, and going all over the place. You are often assigned tasks that are outside your job responsibilities. If you were originally hired to do 3D work, they may have you draw instead, then criticize you for drawing poorly. The atmosphere is very unpleasant, and the oppressive environment is painful to endure.

The supervisor gives unclear instructions, then later turns around and denies having omitted anything.

They repeatedly say that the company does not encourage overtime, yet also say, “A certain colleague clearly lives very close to the company, but still brought his scooter up to Taipei because he was afraid he might work so late that there would be no MRT home. I really admire that kind of work attitude.” (Do they enjoy contradicting themselves?)

During the lunch break, they overheard me and a colleague discussing a work-related problem and called us both in to scold us, claiming that the questions I asked would hold up my colleague’s work progress. Is this martial law now? Is the company’s jurisdiction extending into lunch breaks too?

If Taiwan’s film or television industry is full of companies like this, it would really be strange if it didn’t collapse. As expected, everything happens for a reason.

The company provides training, and the people are nice.

Unspoken expectation of hidden overtime responsibility

Although management says they are also troubled by employees having to work overtime until they sleep at the company and do not want this to happen often, sleeping at the company after working there is still the norm. If you join, it is recommended that you bring liver-protective supplements.

In the past, employees were required to sign a one-year no-raise contract; I do not know whether this is still the case (signing it would definitely result in pay below 22,000).

Since the projects the company takes on are all substantial and demanding, if you insist on pursuing work in film post-production, this is a place where you can hone your skills, but it is not suitable for staying long-term (a pace that could kill you).
