The position I applied for and the work I ended up doing were completely different~ There was absolutely no pay raise; they only told me to do more work. They would also tell me to take courses to learn how to do tasks that weren't part of my position—skills I didn't have or abilities outside my area of responsibility. They would just tell me to learn them or figure them out myself, but whenever pay raises were mentioned, they would completely avoid the topic and give me a long lecture instead.
When they were in a good mood, anything I said was fine. When they were in a bad mood, even things I had normally done well would be challenged and criticized. They were also extremely disrespectful of professional expertise. They didn't care whether I could finish my work, and would often add other tasks in the middle of my work without giving me time to process them, ultimately making me work overtime by implication. If I didn't work overtime, they would send me a long reprimand; but if I did work overtime, they would say, “It's time to get off work—why aren't you leaving?”
On top of that, the supervisor there was very inefficient, rigid, unwilling to adapt, and wouldn't listen to my suggestions. When performance was poor, they blamed me; when performance was good, they received a bonus while I got nothing~
And finally, they smoke and play cards in the office, and often have a large group of card-playing friends over to smoke and play cards.
