This page collects workplace experiences, questions and discussions submitted by users. Dates shown are submission dates, not periods of employment. Individual reports do not describe the entire company.
Read the community guidelinesSalary: Guaranteed 13.5 months’ pay (0.5 month mid-year bonus + 1 month year-end bonus); a start-of-work bonus; NT$3,000 each for the Mid-Autumn Festival and Dragon Boat Festival; everyone receives a prize at the year-end banquet.
There may be additional bonuses. Overall, the compensation is better than the industry average.
Working hours: Scheduled hours are 9:00–18:30 (if your work is finished, you can leave at 18:00); lunch break is 12:00–13:30.
**Late arrivals are not deducted from your pay, but the annual grace allowance is limited to three late arrivals and a combined total of no more than 30 minutes. Exceeding this may affect your performance evaluation.
Annual leave: Better than the requirements of the Labor Standards Act—9 days after one year of employment and 11 days after two years.
Overtime: Overtime is calculated starting at 19:00. If you work past 21:30, you can apply for taxi fare reimbursement (up to NT$300).
Pay raises: Originally scheduled for one raise per year, but the company may ask everyone to weather difficult times together ^^.
Seniority: Rewards are given after reaching certain years of service (a red envelope at 5 years; a medal at 10 years).
Welfare Committee: Small snacks and activities are prepared for major holidays (not sure whether this counts as a benefit), and everyone participates together.
Usually for Women’s Day / Earth Day / Dragon Boat Festival / Mid-Autumn Festival / CSW (an internal company event) / Thanksgiving / Christmas (year-end banquet).
The company provides courses in professional knowledge. Employees must complete at least 16 credits of training each year (with no upper limit on credits).
Annual leave: It can only be taken in half-day units, and the working hours are rather unusual.
‧ If you take the morning off, you come to the office at 14:00 and can leave at 18:00.
‧ If you take the afternoon off, you still come to the office at 9:00 and leave at 13:00 (excluding lunch time).
Annual leave must be used within the same year. Unused leave expires and is not converted into cash.
The company recommends a quarterly leave-taking ratio, which is included in performance evaluations.
(I recall it being Q1: 30%; Q2: 20%; Q3: 30%; Q4: 20%.)
Sick leave (always at half pay; there is no fully paid sick leave): People usually do not take menstrual leave. Sick leave requires receipts, even when taking only half a day.
A hospital follow-up appointment slip does not count as proof. If the visit only involves testing, sampling, or a blood draw, and there is no payment receipt, sick leave will not be approved.
Typhoon days off: If Taipei, New Taipei, and Keelung make different announcements, the company will still require employees to come to work (even if the city or county where you live has declared a typhoon day off).
Make-up workdays announced by the Directorate-General of Personnel Administration must be covered by annual leave. The company asks all employees to sign a written declaration stating that they are voluntarily using annual leave.
Department atmosphere: There are two very domineering managers in the office. Choosing the wrong department can make your life extremely difficult.
If overtime exceeds 21:30, an additional overtime form must be completed, but usually no one fills it out (to avoid attracting managers’ attention to their overtime hours).
Can't think of any, maybe there are some.
The typhoon is so severe that the government declares a typhoon day off, yet the boss still expects you to come to work—truly wonderful (at least it doesn't violate the Labor Standards Act).
