Some fat old-timers are real assholes.
They expect others to learn how to operate the machines just by "watching." Then, when you actually go hands-on for the first time and make a mistake, they keep chewing you out.
How are you supposed to learn by watching? Of course it looks okay when I watch it. How would I know there’s a gap between watching someone do it and actually doing it myself?
No wonder I can’t get promoted to a Chi Mei contract position.
Other than obediently acting like a dog in exchange for a decent salary, there’s nothing else—unless you’re a parachuted-in relative of someone influential (in-laws count too).
I had a nightmare. In it, those above and below were all colluding in wrongdoing! On the surface, everything appeared to comply with regulations, but beneath the surface there were countless unspoken rules. Senior executives would even reinterpret the founder Xu’s famous sayings—I almost thought he was the chairman himself?! He gets to make all the decisions?!
Interactions between people are fairly harmonious. However, a few veteran employees may be more experienced and treat newcomers differently.
Practice makes perfect!! The salary is secure.
The workforce is divided into very narrowly defined contractual roles. People who can help are not allowed to do so. The workforce has been downsized, leaving a shortage of frontline staff, and temporary workers are not hired to fill the gaps.
Promotion pathways are not clear enough. You may end up doing the same job for several years without any opportunity for promotion. The efforts of frontline employees go unnoticed by upper management...
What a wonderful happy company.
Whether newcomers get assigned to a good unit still depends on luck. Veteran employees may even drive you out before your probation ends in order to get promoted to team leader. No matter how the evaluation goes, you won't pass.
Although overtime is still possible after the implementation of the one fixed day off and one flexible rest day policy, employees are unexpectedly forced to convert it only into compensatory leave. Moreover, when requesting leave, employees must first use their unscheduled rotating days off that can be converted into payment; otherwise, the leave request will not be approved. What a “happy company.”
Our unit is already severely understaffed at the frontline level, yet management still wants to cut manpower simply to meet the performance targets set by their superiors. This is supposedly a happy company that puts workplace safety first.
