Read the community guidelinesThe boss takes good care of the employees and does not hire any foreign workers.
The year-end bonus is 4–5 months’ salary, which is already considered very generous compared with the compensation offered by other traditional industries.
Except for the Production Department and R&D, almost all other departments finish work at 17:00 as usual.
Planning, Administration, and R&D Departments
The managers have all been here for a long time and are senior figures well protected by the bosses above them.
The proposal improvement process exists in name only. Every department simply does not want to do anything and directly rejects your proposals;
one manager in the Administration Department, Chen XX, and Huang XX from the Planning Department always suppress many highly educated, ambitious managers parachuted in from outside.
The key point is that the chairman listens to her very closely, so if you want to stay at this company for a long time,
choose the right side and you will have a more comfortable time.
Do not offend the senior figures in the Planning and Administration Departments.
It is a pity that this environment, built up by the boss over many years, has come to this.
Two days off per week, decent pay, overtime must be applied for one week in advance, and overtime pay is provided. Meals are provided at both noon and in the evening. A domestic employee trip is arranged once a year, birthday gift vouchers are given, and a bag of rice is given as a Dragon Boat Festival gift.
The procurement department is extremely demanding, so be mentally prepared to work an additional 3–4 days per week. There are many different and miscellaneous items, and price inquiries are made by fax and telephone. The phone must not ring more than three times. Lunch breaks are 50 minutes. The company is very conservative and places great importance on information security. New employees must write three months’ worth of work-experience reports after joining. It is very difficult to stay long-term without experience.
(Shanghai position)
1. The relationships among colleagues are fairly good.
(Shanghai position)
1. The salary is very low: RMB 8,000 (before tax), approximately equivalent to NT$36,000. (3–5 years of work experience, master’s degree)
2. The vice president is the boss’s daughter. It is a traditional-industry family business dominated by a powerful extended family. She has little ability, only knows how to scold people, and never reflects on whether her own policies are wrong.
3. Because every department is too afraid of the vice president, any mistakes are either concealed or passed off onto someone else.
4. The company only provides RMB 3,650 per year for airfare, approximately equivalent to NT$16,425 per year (extremely little).
You should check whether a Shanghai–Taiwan flight during the Lunar New Year costs more than NT$20,000. Any extra cost has to be paid out of pocket.
Does that mean you can only go back once a year?
5. Excessive overtime. The regular hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but the finance, procurement, and human resources departments, unlike sales, have to work until 10:00 p.m. They also have to work on Saturdays.
The vice president will demand that things get done. (Makes no logical sense.)
6. Many people at the plant have worked there for 10 or 20 years. The vice president often finds reasons to dismiss regular employees and hire outsourced temporary workers. Sometimes the temporary workers do not return after working just one day, and the skilled workers are also frustrated because they have to train new hires every day. As a result, Sanjiu’s quality is seriously questionable.
For the Taichung area, the annual salary is generous and the employee benefits are good.
The company culture and systems are relatively traditional and conservative, with a Japanese-company style.
