Thinking carefully, there really aren’t any. There’s no year-end bonus, no holiday bonuses, no employee trips, and zero benefits. Even taking annual leave can be made difficult.
I won’t comment on some of the managers who were lingering remnants of the company’s previous administration; in any case, they have all left the company.
Later, parachuted-in managers joined the company. But because the previous managers had caused the company’s performance to plummet like an elevator going straight down, the new managers came in to clean up the mess. At first, they were all smiles and confidently promised they could solve the company’s current problems. Later, after discovering that the company’s situation was a complete mess, their earlier fanciful, armchair ideas turned out to be a joke. They began cutting the company’s equipment and labor costs, revealing their true selves and no longer even pretending. Whatever they told you to do, you had to do; if you looked unhappy, they would simply tell you to go home and not come back.
The parachuted-in managers would only tell you, “Your attitude is terrible. We’re also taking the company’s costs into consideration.” Little did they realize how little they understood the company. In particular, one parachuted-in female manager had been there for several months yet kept making a pile of mistakes. She repeatedly made errors on the same tasks, wearing down the employees’ patience. Even after they had already told her the correct way to do things, she would say that their methods reflected outdated thinking and that if the company operated that way, it would keep losing money. Little did she realize that her own ideas were the ones that were truly and thoroughly awful. She was genuinely stubborn and self-righteous.
In the end, I really sympathize with the employees who stayed. With the workforce reduced, each person has to shoulder two or three times the workload. They often work overtime without overtime pay and still get harshly criticized. The above is a dream I had last night, written for anyone considering applying to this company. Whether you’re applying for a full-time position or a part-time job, please think twice.
