Pros

None

Cons

1. First, you have to complete basic Chinese and English tests as well as a résumé, which takes quite a lot of time.

2. Female front-desk applicants work rotating shifts across three shifts. The salary is only NT$24,000 after the probationary period. They immediately ask when you can start, and the supervisor will even add you directly on Line to follow up on your status.

Pros

1. There is air conditioning, and there are chairs at the front desk to sit on (although most of the time, they want you to stand).

2. During the interview, I remember the manager saying, “Why don’t you work at the front desk instead?” (I initially applied for housekeeping because, at the time, it didn’t require rotating through three shifts.)

Later, it was confirmed that I would work at the front desk. Later, the manager was promoted to general manager and transferred away, leaving the assistant manager to take over as the manager of the property.

(I had only been there for two months, and all of the original front-desk staff had already left. I left four months later as well.)

3. Housekeepers are assigned at least 10 suites per day. If there are fewer than 10, they do in-room maintenance (minor cleaning).

When there is insufficient staff, they may be assigned around 15 rooms (four backpacker beds count as one room).

The public restrooms are cleaned every day, approximately once every four hours. Supplies also need to be replenished in the morning and evening (apart from the heavier towels and similar items, most are small items).

P.S. Cleaning is naturally hard work. Occasionally, there is a tip of around 100 [NTD] (maybe once a month or so).

You will encounter both inconsiderate and considerate guests. There are also quite a few people who come to use the place for sexual gratification as if it were a love hotel; quality guests are rare.

Cons

4. The probationary period is three months (they said my abilities were poor, and in the fourth month I continued to be paid the probationary-period wage).

The salary is at the minimum level; it is only adjusted when there is a promotion or an increase in position level.

5. Later, when housekeeping was short-staffed, the supervisor said I was a poor learner and semi-coercively persuaded me, saying, “Why don’t you go work in housekeeping first? Let’s see how it goes, and if it doesn’t work out, we’ll discuss it again. If it doesn’t work out, do it for a month first, then see whether there’s an opportunity to transfer back to the front desk.” They also said that I had originally applied for housekeeping anyway (I had no choice), and my salary did not increase. (If it had increased, you would have been expecting too much.)

6. I’m already too tired to bother remembering. The more I think about it, the more speechless I become. I wish your company prosperous business—and that you are always short-staffed.
