I didn’t get to experience what the potential advantages might be.
1. I interviewed at the Breeze Center counter in Taipei, but the store manager couldn’t even tell me what the base salary was. The performance threshold seemed quite high, and apparently whether you enjoyed working there was the main consideration (judging from her hesitant, evasive manner, it was obvious she probably wasn’t very happy either).
2. I had to discuss the salary with the manager at the Kaohsiung headquarters. Since I directly said that the work environment and job duties were fine and that the only thing left to consider was the monthly salary, the female manager said, “It looks like you seem to care a lot about the salary.” EXM??? Otherwise, did she expect me to do charity work???
3. Talking with the female manager made it clear that the company is very harsh toward its employees and extremely reluctant to provide benefits:
(A) The store had just opened in December, and there were often long lines, so the counter staff received bonuses. But they didn’t meet the target in January. Still, the company thought everyone had worked very hard, so it gave everyone a base salary of 26,000 plus a 2,000 bonus----->which shows just how high the performance threshold must be????
(B) There is an evaluation bonus. If the store manager assesses that you have not been late or left early and that your work performance is good, you receive an evaluation bonus......1,000 yuan—and it is only paid twice a year, in April and October.
(C) You have to move 15-kilogram heavy items at work, and when things get busy, you can’t even use a cart—you have to carry everything by hand. But the female manager said that if employees could come up with ideas to improve efficiency, the company would award an additional bonus based on performance, because some people only know how to complain......You expect someone carrying a 15-kilogram heavy item from the B1 warehouse back to the counter not to complain????? Is it wrong to complain a couple of times????
