The interviewer for the planning and graphic design position was very friendly and cheerful, and explained the work in detail.

There is only one person in this position, with no other colleagues doing the same work. The company does not have many employees, and the role involves more planning than design.

It’s no surprise that a Japanese company is stingy in all sorts of ways. Although the company is essentially kept afloat by part-time workers (most employees are part-timers/student workers), it places very little importance on them and offers virtually no benefits. There is a meal allowance listed in the salary package, but it is effectively meaningless, and the pay is not any higher. Senior management occasionally visits the stores, but their people skills could use improvement. Every time they come, they only pick on the part-time workers’ faults; I’ve basically never heard any praise. There’s no sense of accomplishment.

The salary is shockingly low, especially for a Japanese brand. During the first three-month probationary period, it was either 22k or 23k (I was so shocked that I didn't hear clearly); after the probationary period, it was 25k. Basic conversational Japanese is required because there are Japanese customers and a Japanese supervisor. There is an operating bonus, but it is difficult to achieve, and I didn't ask about the tiers in detail.

The job often requires climbing to high places and carrying heavy items. It feels like physically demanding work that also requires language skills, yet this is not reflected in the salary or benefits. Only people who truly love country-style accessories can probably accept this job.

I received an interview invitation from the job bank on the same day I submitted my resume. The job posting stated that intermediate Japanese proficiency was required. On the day of the interview, the store manager was the only Taiwanese person there. After I introduced myself, they explained the salary, working hours, and other details.

The job requires lifting heavy objects and climbing to heights. The working day is 8.5 hours long. Compensatory leave is only provided for Lunar New Year, the Dragon Boat Festival, and the Mid-Autumn Festival.
