The boss personally invited me by phone, which showed a certain level of sincerity,
but the risk of stepping on landmines is high.
Before the interview, I was not informed that I would need to fill out the company's standard application form. It also asked for private information unrelated to the job, such as family members. The person who greeted me was very cold and required me to remove my shoes, but did not provide guest slippers, meaning I had to attend the interview barefoot. When I raised this with them, they simply said that I did not have to continue with the interview.
When I was filling out the application form, they said (quoted verbatim below):
“You—yes, you, without even using a form of address—do you not have to
fill out an application when interviewing at other companies?”
The lighting was dim and the seating arrangement was cramped. A large Buddhist altar had been set up at the entrance, and many images of Buddhist statues were hung around the premises.
None of the above was mentioned in the interview invitation email.
It made me feel that the interviewer showed very little respect for interviewees.
I hope this information can serve as a reference and help protect others’ rights and interests.
The director is very nice and willing to teach. The company is quite straightforward, with a Buddhist shrine and a clean office space.
Administrative staff may have a somewhat difficult time being caught in the middle. Aside from that, this company is very good.
