The supervisor is the biggest PUAer, acting as if giving you the opportunity to join is an enormous favor. At work, he constantly contradicts you. If you add something, he says, “No, I know that.” He tells you to think instead of only doing things superficially, and not to start talking just because you know a tiny bit about something. The first six words are his usual opening. Once, while I was handling something, he called me. I replied that I was listening, and he exploded. He said, “I’ve already stood up to call you, and you still won’t stand up? What kind of attitude is that? If you don’t want to work, tell me right away.” Am I a student? If you stand up, does that mean I have to stand up too? Besides, I was in the middle of handling work. He interrupted me and still demanded that I stand up so he could scold me. He always says he follows the rules most strictly. Right—he’s a supervisor who doesn’t wear the company uniform and only complains that it’s uncomfortable. When the people responsible for 5S come over, he changes the subject. The company is full of old-timers who rely on their seniority to do whatever they want, with countless special exceptions. They even bang on desks. A traditional industry is a traditional industry—they place great importance on their so-called workplace etiquette.
