The HR team and colleagues are all pretty nice.
Thoughts from a brand visual designer:
To cut to the chase, if you’re someone who takes time to produce quality work and needs time to think of innovative ideas and create designs, this place probably isn’t for you!
Design work is always requested very urgently. For example, after a meeting in the afternoon, they may ask whether you can produce a draft before the end of the workday~
Whether it’s designing a social media post or a holiday greeting graphic, there will often be more than ten rounds of revisions. To get something out quickly, they may simply tell you to follow the reference image and make some minor changes; that approach has a very high chance of getting approved.
Basically, there isn’t much room for coming up with innovative ideas. They often ask someone to work on a design without clearly explaining the style, then after several versions say they want a different style~ You can end up doing all that work for nothing, and they might choose the first version in the end.
Also, supervisors or the boss may have the misconception that resizing the graphics and text for Facebook or Instagram should be very quick~ as if it could be done just by moving a finger.
Moreover, there is no one from before to hand over the work. When you encounter a similar design project, you have to look for previous examples or ask colleagues who worked on it before, then slowly figure it out yourself.
If you work overtime, you will generally be given compensatory leave instead~
In summary, if you want to create new designs with some of your own style that you can include in your portfolio, or if you feel that you need some time to do design work, you should think carefully about whether this is suitable for you.
On the other hand, if you want to train yourself to develop ideas and produce designs quickly, and you’re not afraid of being chased by deadlines, you’re welcome to join.
