Pros

Those who are leaving, let them go; those who are coming, let them come.

Cons

Reason One

Li✠Yu deliberately assigned impossible tasks during new-hire evaluations and required newcomers to work unpaid overtime (7h) to make up the progress. When a newcomer asked for help, he coldly said, “I’m not here to take care of you.” As a result, three newcomers were driven to resign that very day.

Reason Two

james deliberately dumped all the tasks on new employees while he went off to drink coffee. When problems arose, he shifted all the blame onto the newcomers. He shouted, “You’re not a VIP, so why should I take care of you?” He then forced the newcomers to clean up the mess. After the newcomers could no longer take it and resigned, the supervisor asked L to find out why, but james instead dragged HR Lynn out for a three-hour steak lunch to review the situation.

Reason Three

jack called a completely unnecessary emergency meeting and had the entire department discuss data that he himself had mixed up. While berating the newcomers, he also demanded that they work overtime later to redo everything. jack then dragged them back into the meeting room to listen to him talk about his philosophy of managing people, continuing until he had said all he wanted.

Reason Four

Xu✠Long entered important information incorrectly when replying to a client, but blamed the mistake on a newcomer who had just joined, shouting, “You expect me to take care of you? Dream on!” The newcomer was forced to reorganize the data. After the client complained, the supervisor asked L to investigate, but D pulled L into a discussion room, saying they should work together to find the newcomer’s problems. He said he was a VIP and that he was never at fault. The more L listened, the more helpless they felt, sensing that the company’s very structure was collapsing.

Reason Five

HR Lynn had intended to clarify the department’s staffing and funding shortages, but discovered that certain unusual behaviors and circumstances were causing large numbers of newcomers to resign, leaving even Marketing barely able to hold on. When Lynn reported this to upper management, they brushed it off: “Let’s observe a little longer.” Lynn understood that the company was falling apart, but senior management chose to pretend nothing was happening. They discussed only various absurd issues, and Lynn eventually decided to hide away rather than face the other employees amid this collapse. After the company’s New Year crisis, many employees did not see Lynn for a long time.
