Pros

Thoughts after staying for more than five years

1. Very free and loosely managed—so free that you can speak loudly without anyone caring.

2. There are no systems; no one cares what you do (except for one senior employee who loves criticizing others and self-righteously tells you loudly how you should work).

3. You do not need many office skills, nor do you need to think too much about what to do.

4. You leave and arrive on time, with no overtime, because there is no overtime pay either.

5. Colleagues are basically kind, because their crude attempts at backstabbing are easy to spot.

Cons

1. Don't be too smart; the company neither needs nor lacks smart people. Those above do not accept people who like making suggestions.

2. Don't work too quickly, because instructions often change from one day to the next. Senior management themselves do not know what to do and only talk about how capable they were 30 years ago.

3. Don't make too many suggestions, because no one will adopt them. Outsiders are ostracized.

4. Don't care too much about what certain senior employees say about you behind your back, because they have nothing to do at work except spread rumors and criticize others behind their backs.

5. Some long-serving managers cannot even handle basic report figures, yet the company still pays them high salaries. With nothing to do, they often spread rumors and gossip with distributors while on business trips. One of them speaks extremely loudly at work and acts as if she were the boss; she has plenty of opinions about what others do, but keeps well away when asked to do something herself. She often criticizes others behind their backs when they are absent, going on and on with meaningless complaints. No one knows what she is complaining about. Otherwise, she acts as the boss's informant.

6. Meetings often waste time without producing results. Managers say nothing during meetings and just talk nonsense, instructing others to figure out how to solve problems. Suggestions are often treated as causing trouble, and the people above do not pay attention to those who want to get things done.

7. On typhoon days, you have to use your own annual leave; otherwise, you have to take personal leave.

8. The people at headquarters do not care about or value talent either, treating employees merely as consumables. Every manager talks as if they know how things should be done, but their directions are simply impossible to implement.

9. The company offers no benefits at all. Even the year-end bonus depends on overall operations. The ones who enjoy themselves are the senior executives who do nothing (and already have high base salaries).

10. Some senior employees have worked under three generations of owners but are completely out of touch with society. They have never even heard of basic DMS and cannot use it at all, doing things on paper instead. They even get angry when this is pointed out. Operations still follow the procedures of the previous Japanese brand.

11. Basically, there is no interaction among department heads except at the grassroots level. Subordinates have to run around communicating every time. One sales manager loves to talk, is not very bright, and keeps talking about how well he sold cars in the past; whenever something goes wrong, he blames his subordinates and passes the buck. In addition, one middle-aged woman speaks so loudly at work that the entire company knows it; she loves criticizing others, saying how they did things badly and how bad everything is here.

12. Headquarters knows about the internal problems but does not want to deal with them, preferring to play the good person. You can only admire their tolerance: when warned in advance about problems that will occur, they pretend not to know and refuse to face them. Only after problems actually occur do they summon a group of people to a meeting to put them on trial. If you tell the truth, they will even give you dirty looks.
