Cons

The initial interview was mainly a conversation with the vice president. However, when they asked about salary at the end, they said that since I had just graduated and had no experience, they could only offer the minimum salary listed in Article 104, and then concluded by saying they would notify me later. A week later, I received a notification asking me to attend a second interview, for which I had to prepare a 20-minute presentation. On the day of the second interview, I was interviewed by the general manager and the vice president together. Before my interview had even started that day, I saw the general manager reprimanding a new employee—and the reprimand was utterly merciless. The vice president did not say much. The general manager began by asking an entirely irrelevant question, then criticized and belittled me from beginning to end. In the middle of it, he even said, “You’re not our employee yet. I’m being too harsh, but…” and then continued belittling me. At one point he said that what I had done academically in graduate school was different from the industry, and that, from the industry’s perspective, my work was garbage. Then he said that academia and the industry were not completely unrelated—after all, we had all graduated from academia, and what schools taught was still useful; otherwise, how could we connect with the industry? If you don’t want to be subjected to this kind of humiliation, you really don’t need to come to the interview. You can come and see what the initial interview is like; at first, you may think it seems fine, but you’ll know what the second interview is like. The second interview lasted a total of 1.5 hours. Partway through, I wanted to leave. After it ended, I wondered what I had come there for and just wanted to get away as quickly as possible.
