Pros

None.

Cons

1. It is completely impossible to find parking near the company.

2. The floor occupied by the company smells terrible. It feels like an office building with a poor environment; it really does not look bright, clean, and well maintained. The office is full of clutter. The interviewer and the women inside dressed casually, yet they required interviewees to attend in formal attire—what the hell!

3. I asked about the work during the interview, and the interviewer's answers were unbelievably bizarre. I asked whether the company provided training time. The interviewer said there were only two weeks, after which I would have to start handling things on my own. During those two weeks, they would only teach product knowledge and some administrative procedures; as for how to develop business, that was the salesperson's own responsibility. I said that my work experience was all in inside sales and that I was not inclined to do completely new business development, so I asked again exactly how much prospecting was involved. The interviewer was vague and evasive. I asked whether they had existing customers, and he said yes, but that only one would be assigned to each new employee. I asked how many existing customers they had. He showed me a form with many entries, but I just could not understand why I would still have to develop so many companies. You would be subjected to performance pressure as soon as you joined. The key issue is that they do not even provide training for different industries. Later, I asked how long the salespeople there usually stayed at most. The interviewer actually replied: “Our company has a curse: as soon as a salesperson earns a six-figure salary, they leave.” The longest-serving salesperson had been there for three years.

I also asked about the salary structure. There are two options: one is a base salary of 27K plus commission; the other is a base salary of 40K, but you have to hit a monthly sales target of 150K!

It is not simply a matter of whether you meet the target. The key point is that they do not train new hires or provide classes; once they finish explaining the product knowledge, they just throw you into the deep end. That is really hard to accept! After hearing this, the interviewer waited for my response, but I immediately took back my résumé and left.

If a company wants a fully new-business-development sales model, it should hire people with experience in the relevant field. Without training new hires, no one can stay for long—and the longest-serving salesperson there had only been there for three years...! It looks like the company's turnover is extremely high! Two salespeople had already left before me! I decisively ruled it out! If a new company does not value new-hire training but expects someone to start bringing in revenue in the first month, that is pure fantasy! And this was not even an overseas sales position! They would not even give you an inactive customer list; they would only give you one customer. What the hell!
