People the manager likes can do a terrible job and still get away with it, while those they dislike get criticized no matter how much they do. You’ll also be assigned an endless amount of extra work because others can’t do it. Bonuses are all talk and never materialize; there’s no team cohesion, and neither your salary nor your abilities will grow.
