None—if I really had to say something, it would be that working hours are punctual.
1. The company keeps a bunch of idle people on the payroll until retirement, while outsourcing the work of many departments. So what exactly are these people here for? Then they turn around and say the company is losing money and not making a profit. When problems arise, colleagues shirk responsibility and sabotage one another without limits.
2. Field staff often go out for meals. The Japanese employees and senior managers dine at company expense, and the product department also frequently goes out to eat on the company’s tab for no particular reason. Managers in internal departments make up excuses to go out for meals and claim reimbursement as well, and some even settle expense accounts privately without disclosure. Quite a few people are using this company to coast into retirement while draining it dry.
3. The company’s old-timers are very good at increasing their own salaries. New hires receive no benefits; the company only suppresses their pay. Don’t be fooled by the sales talk—once you join, your salary will be that of a cheap laborer.
4. Field sales is not valued by the company. The Japanese employees and departments throughout the company see sales as useless and as a bunch of losers. The sales department has the lowest salaries in the company, and also receives the smallest year-end bonuses. Performance bonuses are paid only once a year. The online-channel team is also a despised department, and the managers are not clean-handed, so be careful if you join.
5. The Zojirushi brand is declining in markets worldwide and getting worse by the day. If you join, be mentally prepared for there to be no benefits whatsoever: employee trips ❌ bonuses ❌. Many benefits have been cut completely.
6. There is a lot of petty, meddlesome behavior. Every unpleasant thing you can imagine happens here. If you don’t like that, stay away.
