However, I had already found a job by then, so I politely declined.

Later, a manager in the United States contacted me and said they were preparing to make me an offer.

They hoped I could interview with an even more senior manager in the United States.

We scheduled it for Saturday morning, but the more senior manager in the United States had something come up and did not attend that day…

The original junior manager asked me about the compensation package of the offer I had received and then logged off.

Of course, they never subsequently gave me the offer they had promised.

So was this just an attempt to obtain salary information?

It left me feeling quite disappointed.
