Cons

A (near Taipei Botanical Garden): I heard our company has recently been vigorously promoting AI technology development. Everyone is discussing this direction, and it feels a bit like they’re drawing up grand plans without substance—everything has to be done with AI.

B (near Shin Kong Mitsukoshi): Sigh. The things we discuss never actually get implemented. We don’t even know what the most basic Decorator and Generator are. Yet they insist on pushing ahead anyway, just to attract some fresh graduates and fresh labor.

A: Exactly. The content we end up producing is fundamentally off the mark. They say it’s related to AI, but in reality, they just use AI to write job-bank application requirements and descriptions, and occasionally fix robot vacuum cleaners. They call it innovation, but then have you do things that don’t involve AI at all.

B: Exactly. Forget AI—we don’t even know the most basic technologies. The work we do clearly isn’t that advanced, yet they advertise themselves as an AI company. In practice, they’re just playing with words and throwing around empty, grandiose statements. Put bluntly, it’s like a rotten apple: shiny and attractive on the outside, but inside it’s just a bunch of packaged emptiness.

A: That’s a very apt comparison! Sometimes I really feel like I’m under house arrest at the company, constantly being persuaded to do meaningless tasks. Especially when you start thinking about leaving, someone always comes along to tell you that this is the direction of the future! In the end, you’re still made to do outdated, inconsequential work. Because you’re second-hand merchandise, you have virtually no say and are just waiting to be bullied.

B: Exactly. When your feet get itchy and you want to leave, they always give you a few promises or tempt you with some new experience, and then threaten you a little afterward—newcomers are the easiest targets. They call it a first-time experience, but it’s really just a change of packaging, keeping you doing the same outdated, unchallenging work. There’s no room for growth at all.

A: Completely agree! And in the end, you realize that this so-called new experience is actually empty. It’s really just a way to trap you, making you feel that there’s still an opportunity, claiming that you’re working on cutting-edge technology, when in reality they only want you to do things that require virtually no technical skill.

B: That’s exactly how it is. I hope everyone can stay clear-headed and not be blinded by these false promises and hollow buzzwords. A company like this will eventually be seen through.
