Previously an assistant at a luxury beauty brand
The advantage is that you’ll never be short of skincare and makeup products
Sometimes there are also events you can participate in to gain experience in different types of work
It’s OK if you want to get to know the beauty industry, but it’s not suitable as a long-term job
Some full-time employees and supervisors will treat you like a gofer
Anything they don’t want to do gets passed on to the assistant
The assistant also has to coordinate external communications
Simply put, it’s a demanding and thankless job
There’s a chance you’ll encounter a controlling supervisor or senior employees who throw their weight around
Because things change quickly and various tasks often appear suddenly, you have to constantly read the room, cater to everyone, and soothe people’s tempers, which is quite exhausting
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend it (although there are also teams with a very good atmosphere)
