Pros

I can’t think of any at the moment

Cons

When I left, I was finally able to get away from that group of so-called “professionals.” Some supervisors, you know, rely on their seniority every day. The moment they open their mouths, it’s always, “I have more experience; what I say goes,” as if they can order everyone else around and keep them frantically busy without doing anything themselves. Whenever you try to ask a question, they start reciting the classic line, “Back in my day, this is how I did it...” and then don’t come down to do the work themselves.

They spend all day on the phone. Going to work means checking emails and talking on the phone—nothing else.

The supervisor is always assigning a pile of work that has absolutely nothing to do with our responsibilities. They keep talking about having a “capable assistant,” which would be fine if they didn’t always give special treatment to their beloved female colleague. They probably don’t care at all who is busy working or who is working overtime. As long as their favorite person can smile, nothing else matters.

There is also a team in one department that is incredibly relaxed every day. They come to the company like civil servants, strolling around without a care in the world. They do their own thing during work hours, and whether their performance is good or not apparently doesn’t have much impact on their bonuses. I have to admit, I’m quite envious of that leisurely, carefree attitude toward work. Compared with those frontline workers who work themselves to the bone and constantly put in overtime, it’s a world of difference.

And then there are all those “things I didn’t do” that they insist on pinning on me. The company’s unreasonable behavior really makes you feel that there is no justice or logic—only the exercise of power and domineering decisions. This management style is so absurd that it makes you wonder whether you’re living in a joke. You might as well treat it as one, since I don’t want to waste any more time in a place like this.

After working there for so long, I finally decided to leave. I still feel that getting away from these people was the right choice.
