Cons

This is a predatory company operating within the Veterans Affairs Council vocational training system. It is owned by the Hsiao family, with the boss, the boss’s younger brother, son, daughter, and relatives controlling personnel and finances, so don’t expect any career development.

The owner of this company teaches at a Veterans Affairs Council vocational training center.

Basically, the owner of a company with nearly 20 employees and annual revenue exceeding ten million would not be interested in the hourly teaching fee at a Veterans Affairs Council vocational training center.

What he wants is first-hand access to those who have just completed their military service and are still naive about the darker side of society.

That way, he can carry out his exploitation plan. Soldiers are easy to deceive, after all—scam groups love this kind of target.

As for why the company is unscrupulous:

1. Work environment: There is a morning meeting at 8:00 a.m. where the boss assigns tasks and jobs; sometimes, if he is in a bad mood, he also yells at people. Attendance is clocked in through a cloud-based system, which means that when 5:00 p.m. arrives, you have to clock out while still at the work site or on your way back from it. That way, the company can avoid paying overtime.

2. Overtime pay: Basically, just assume this does not exist. For new employees, when you return from a work site, the boss uses various forms of emotional blackmail, sarcastic comments and stares from veteran employees, and peer pressure to force you to stay at the company and do odd jobs under the pretext of practice. For veteran employees, it is actually worse, because after returning to the company they have to fill out all kinds of forms, submit official documents, and get scolded by the boss—none of this is counted as overtime.

3. No meals provided: Normally, when a regular company sends a work crew out, the foreman provides meals and water. This company provides absolutely nothing. You even have to pay for the boxed meals sold at the construction-site canteen, and water goes without saying—if you fill up too much water from the office, the boss will complain about it.

4. Workplace atmosphere: It is much more pleasant at the work site than at the company, because returning to the company means entering an atmosphere of depression. This is also why the veteran employees there all have such terrible attitudes: the pressure imposed by the boss can only be vented on newcomers.

5. Most importantly, the salary: New employees earn less than 30,000, with a three-month probationary period. Raises depend on the boss’s mood and are 500 each time. Leadership positions are also laughable, with an extra 500. There are technicians who have been with the company for three or four years earning less than 40,000 per month, and they have to work overtime on holidays just to exceed 40,000. The holiday overtime pay is ridiculous—when calculated, it is even less than what you would make as a day laborer, at most a little over 1,000.

6. Tools: The company does not provide basic tools and expects you to buy your own. Although there are shared power tools, the boss keeps a close eye on how you use them, and you have to pay for any damage. Therefore, people there basically prepare their own tools. There is one advantage, though: when you resign, you can take everything with you.

7. Why hasn’t the company been sued? This goes back to what was mentioned earlier: soldiers are naive and easy to deceive, so no labor disputes have broken out yet. After brainwashing people in his classes, every few months he manages to trick another fool into joining his company. I am writing this long post just to save one person at a time. Low-voltage electrical technicians are in very short supply, so don’t let this company fool you.
