Pros

Pros

I thought about it for a long time, and the only advantage I can think of is that during the first half of my time there, I worked in a unit where I was not disturbed much, so I could focus on my work and produce good-quality results, although things ultimately did not turn out as hoped.... (wry smile)

Cons

Cons

I worked at this company many years ago. At the time, the eldest son of the old boss (who had always been at the Vietnam plant) wanted to accomplish something, so he established a team at the Taipei World Trade Center to develop talent himself. His “verbal promise” was that over the following three years, he hoped I would develop the ability to produce “styling drawings.” This was actually one of my professional strengths, so of course I was very willing to make that investment.

But then the horror story began. In fact, the family itself had no consensus due to the company’s family-oriented culture. The old boss actually had strong objections to the younger boss establishing a Taipei unit, and repeatedly stated that I should return to Tainan. I personally said that I respected the general manager (the younger boss) and his organizational plans. Every company has its own problems, and to be honest, I cannot really criticize something so uncontrollable (it was none of my business). However, this organizational communication conflict—something I could not resolve on my own—made it very difficult for the people underneath to work and ultimately even resulted in employees’ rights being sacrificed (I was unquestionably one of the victims XDDDD).

Let me slowly tell you the details of this horror story.......

Originally, my design work was reported directly to the younger boss, and things were actually going smoothly. But later, I was reassigned to work with Mumu, who had serious emotional problems (at his previous unit, he directly cursed at his supervisor with every swear word in the book, and the two nearly sued each other. But he had been in this industry for a long time, so he was not blacklisted or asked to leave; afterward, he directly became the younger boss’s special assistant). Communication with him became quite difficult in the later period (I suppose I was considered lucky—I once personally witnessed him angrily throw something at an RD). The reason was that he thought: How could I design good helmets if I did not ride a heavy motorcycle? When I heard that, I laughed internally and thought, “Come on, many famous automobile designers don’t even know how to drive, okay?”

What happened afterward really astonished me: he thought I was not suitable for the position and suggested to HR that I return to work in Tainan and start from zero, with my position demoted to assistant designer. What the heck! Instead of solving the organizational communication problem, they solved the person he thought was the problem? HR actually thought this was the right thing to do? HR was also extremely unprofessional, so I shut them down by saying: “I have been with this company for almost three years. You also know that we need to look at our performance reviews to receive the year-end bonus here, and the maximum is one month’s bonus. If my abilities were poor, why was I able to get through the three-month probation period? And why was I even able to receive a one-month year-end bonus?” HR was rendered speechless and casually replied, “That was in the past....” I thought to myself, “Oh, screw that.... After being treated like a slave for so long, I’ve become stupid too. There’s no need to overcomplicate this, okay? XDDDD....”

Later, I did not state whether I would stay or leave. The younger boss asked me to take a week off and give him time to think. This was basically the Elon Musk strategy: see whether the company’s operations would be affected without me during that week XDDDD.

A week later, to my surprise, he unexpectedly told another colleague to immediately take back the company computer issued to me (because it contained illegal software installed by IT), and would not even let me back up my work files. How ruthless, how wonderful~~!!! (Thankfully, I had already made preparations well in advance XDDDDD.)

After leaving this company, I worked hard over the years, and to this day I am doing much better in a publicly listed, trend-driven industry. I only felt that I wanted to contribute something to Taiwan’s small and medium-sized enterprises, so I chose what I thought was a really cool motorcycle helmet industry. In the end, I endured nothing but humiliation and left. I remember thinking how truly disheartening it was......

Even now... I would never buy a helmet from this company. It really left a deeply twisted psychological scar on me!
