When it’s your turn to be the target, your colleagues all know you’re innocent—it’s just that someone is acting up again. Ah, but they won’t stand up for you either, because speaking up for you means getting blacklisted too, and the next time that person acts up, it’ll be your turn to become the target even sooner.
The woman who cooks is very kind. Although the kitchen where she prepares delicious staff meals is full of cockroaches, you have to mentally prepare yourself before opening any cabinet there. If you’re afraid of cockroaches, you can use it to train your courage.
When someone decides that you have ulterior motives or have made a stupid mistake, even when irrefutable facts and evidence are right in front of him, he will go around dragging others into saying that you are guilty. At that point, all the good colleagues who normally get along with you are awkwardly forced to become accomplices in attacking you, but they don’t dare say much either. Even if someone with a sense of justice and an understanding of right and wrong tries to stand up and discuss the facts, he will still insist on badmouthing you until you are completely ruined. What the facts are doesn’t matter; what you endured or sacrificed doesn’t matter either. When he wants to ruin you, you simply have to be ruined.
Ah, if you breathe through the same nostril as that person, he will like you for a while—but there’s no guarantee that your turn won’t come one day.
