The company has two businesses: a cat café and a pet store, both located together.

Working hours are 10:30 a.m.–10:00 p.m., with a one-hour break in between.

Extremely long hours.

On my first day, two employees from the cat café came to the pet store to help open it, but they did not know the answers to anything I asked. The pet store supervisor was also late. After finishing their shift at the pet store, the cat café employees still had to return to the cat café to work the closing shift, from 10:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.—an extremely long, excessive workload.

When the supervisor arrived, they asked whether I knew how to clean cats’ eyes and ears. I honestly said that I had done it for the two cats at home, but did not have experience with multiple cats.

The supervisor told me to try first and said they would inspect my work afterward, then left.

As soon as I had finished two cats, the “boss’s wife” arrived!

She came in, looked at my work, and immediately said that each cat had to be finished within an average of two minutes. She also asked why I had not brushed their fur, applied medicine, or trimmed their nails. The boss’s wife asked whether the supervisor had taught me. I said no, and she frowned, walked around inside for a bit, and then left.

After I finished cleaning the cats, I went downstairs to ask what needed to be done. Both the boss’s wife and the supervisor had to think about it on the spot—and for quite a while. Eventually, they told me to start cleaning the entire shop for the whole day!

I learned nothing all day except how to clean!

Moreover, whether at the cat café or the pet store, the employees would all badmouth the boss’s wife, even saying these things to me on my first day at work 😅

The boss’s wife and the supervisor also spoke very loudly about another full-time employee’s shortcomings; the entire shop could hear them clearly.

When it was time to finish work and close the store that evening, the supervisor told me that the boss’s wife felt I was unsuitable and that I should only work that day!

I reasonably suspect that she only wanted a cheap cleaner for one day and brought me in for that purpose. The supervisor could not even explain what made me unsuitable, because the boss’s wife had left at 7 or 8 p.m.

Furthermore, the branch I applied to was desperately short-staffed—so short-staffed that it needed support from the cat café employees. Even with the boss’s wife and the owner personally working, they still dismissed a full-time employee.
