台灣一川工程股份有限公司
Pros

The location is good, with lots of food options downstairs and very close to Shin Kong Mitsukoshi.

Cons

The job is listed as a procurement position on 104, but after joining, you receive a sheet listing the actual duties—more than 10 in total. Most of them are general affairs tasks (switchboard operation, general affairs, reception and visitor management, registering and receiving registered mail, notifying people through the security office, cleaning public areas, etc.). During the interview, they said you had to provide two guarantors, and each guarantor had to provide tax documents proving that they still owned property or land. When discussing salary, they said it had to include the 6% labor pension contribution.

You must submit detailed labor insurance records from your first job through your previous job, although this is not stated on the required-document checklist. A keycard is required to access the building’s elevators, but if your personnel documents are incomplete when you report for duty, the company will not give you a keycard. You can only exchange keycards with the security guards to enter and exit.

Because there is no system, all operations are handled using Excel files. Even reconciling payment requests requires manually searching for and matching the data.

Procurement is the smallest department in the entire company. Whenever another department does not want to do something, it gets pushed onto procurement, so procurement has to handle everything. The monthly vendor payment requests are the most painful time. Besides a pile of paper-based work, whenever there are questions about certain expenses, they will lecture procurement for not knowing about them and then tell procurement to haggle with the vendors and deduct money from them.

The company’s office décor has not changed in more than 30 years, and everything is very outdated. Procurement staff sit in an open-plan area with no privacy at all and very little space. In addition to being responsible for watching the entrance, you constantly smell cigarette smoke when the boss smokes in the office. Overtime pay is calculated at 1 times the regular rate, rather than according to the Labor Standards Act at 1.33 and 1.66 times the rate.

The women’s uniform is a short skirt that must be worn year-round. If you join expecting a procurement job, you will be extremely disappointed—it is basically all miscellaneous tasks. The company is also completely unfriendly to newcomers; you have to ask about everything yourself.

For the Dragon Boat Festival, there is only one small sweet rice dumpling. Apart from one box of pear gift set for the Mid-Autumn Festival, there is nothing else. The salary is not high, yet there are a lot of demands. Only people who are willing to be treated like slaves should consider working there.
