I applied several years ago and got accepted but didn’t take the job. I came back out of boredom to look at the reviews, and the boss hasn’t changed at all :） So I’ll share my personal experience too.

After I submitted my résumé, I was notified by phone that, after looking at my portfolio, they thought I was capable of doing graphic design work and could offer my expected salary, so they arranged an interview.

I brought my portfolio that day, but before I had even started explaining anything, the older woman interviewing me got straight to the point: “There’s no need to look at your portfolio. How do I know you made it? Just tell me how much salary you want. Two young women have already started working here in the past two days. You won’t get a raise either. If you do graphic design work for a legislator, she might give you a red envelope; the legislator is very close to us. You won’t become a supervisor. Later, we’ll bring back a former employee to be the supervisor.”

She then started digging into my personal background, asking where my parents worked, whether I had a partner, where they lived, what kind of work they did, and other questions completely unrelated to the job.

I stated the salary we had agreed on during the phone call, but she then belittled me over it, emotionally manipulated me, questioned whether I had lied about my parents’ positions, and began slandering and disparaging my parents.

In the end, when she found out that my family had recently been thinking about adopting a dog, she even said directly, “Wouldn’t it be better to buy a purebred dog? There are many downstairs from us, and their quality is pretty good. Why adopt one?”

Looking back, I really regret not arguing back and telling her off on the spot. It was downright insulting and bullying a fresh graduate who had just entered the workforce to look for a job＝＝
