First, the department manager who interviews you will tell you how great this company is—how you can leave work on time without working overtime, and so on. In reality, they lure you in first because it’s true that they’re severely understaffed. If you ask whether there is overtime pay, they’ll tell you that the company does not encourage working overtime, but they just won’t mention that overtime is unpaid.
1. They provide a lunch subsidy, but the food is very greasy and unappetizing. They often serve leftover dishes and rice, and sometimes the food even tastes sour.
2. No overtime pay. No overtime pay. No overtime pay.
You could report them for violating the Labor Standards Act.
They tell you there are flexible working hours and that you can leave work on time, but if you still have unfinished work, you’ll have to work overtime, right?
3. Almost all of the coworkers are older and not very sharp, but they are excellent at shifting blame.
If you’re young, they’ll say that young people are supposed to learn more and keep dumping things on you. In short, it’s awful.
4. Meetings often run very late—more than three hours.
