Pros

The position interviewed for was warehouse management personnel.

The monthly salary is NT$38,000–40,000.

They will call you directly to ask questions if they were unable to reach you at the time.

They will ask on 104 when it would be convenient for you to come in for an interview.

However, they will not send an interview invitation through 104—even if you ask them to send one, the result is the same.

They also will not proactively tell you the interview time; the interviewee has to ask.

If you do not specify a precise time, you will be told that any time between 9:00 and 11:00 is acceptable—a rather broad time window.

After arriving at the designated location, ignore whatever is posted on the glass office door.

The left side of the glass door is broken and will not open; pressing the button will only open the right side.

After you explain the purpose of your visit, a middle-aged or older man will ask you to leave the office with him and go to the warehouse.

At first, he will ask you to pick up a 10-kilogram bag of rice and lift it up to see how high you can raise it.

Next comes a 30-kilogram bag of rice, once he confirms that you can do the first task.

If you have no problem carrying heavy items and stacking goods, he will take you to the far right end of the site, where the containers are.

The basic task is discussing container unloading. If you have experience, just answer accordingly. A mechanical arm stacks the pallets in the pallet-stacking area, so a person does not need to stack them.

However, unloading the containers requires people: you have to enter the container and carry the packages out one by one.

If there is no problem with unloading the container, you will be asked to quickly conduct an inventory check and calculation.

You will face the goods stacked nearby and quickly count to determine the correct quantity.

If there is no problem with the inventory check, you will be asked to operate a forklift on the spot.

I initially tried to decline, saying that I had not operated one for three years and might not be comfortable doing so.

The interviewer ignored what I said and insisted on finding a forklift for me to operate immediately.

If there is no problem with operating the forklift, you will be asked to try repairing damaged bags.

This time, before the interviewer asked me to perform the task, I gave an answer that clearly reflected knowledge obtainable only through prior experience.

Therefore, I was not asked to do the practical test.

None of the above practical tests were announced in advance.

After arriving, I had not filled out any paperwork yet, but they immediately required me to perform the practical tests.

Cons

1. Even if a job applicant requests one, they still will not send an interview invitation.

2. The interview time is broad; you only need to arrive within the specified time period.

3. None of the practical tests were announced in advance.

4. The on-site practical tests include carrying heavy items, stacking goods, unloading containers, inventory checking, calculations, operating a sit-down forklift, and sewing up bags.

5. If you pass all the tests, they will ask whether you can start work that same afternoon (possibly a terrible job).

6. There is no clearly defined lunch break. The stated break period is 11:00–15:00, but someone must remain in the warehouse, so you must coordinate your break time with the other warehouse staff. (Illegal.)

7. The working hours are not listed because it is a responsibility-based work system. When asked, the hours are said to be 8:00–17:00, but if the work is not finished, you will be required to continue working.

(It is certain that there is no overtime pay, so the issue is not an overtime limit; the only concern is whether you have finished the work.) (Illegal.)

8. The medical examination specifically must be one for the food-related industry.

9. Only after you pass the tests will they give you a personnel information form to fill out.

10. Sometimes they will require you to drive out and make deliveries yourself. This is not listed on 104, but it is something they will require employees to do.

11. The job is more suitable for younger people. Although the starting salary is NT$38,000–40,000, you are earning money at the expense of your body, and if you also have to serve as a driver, NT$40,000 will definitely not be enough.
