BK Taiwan_台灣百科精密儀器股份有限公司
Pros

Claimed to offer 14 months of annual salary

Cons

1. The company has absolutely no rules or procedures to speak of, and is rife with violations that really ought to be reported. Employees must carry a voice recorder with them at all times while at work.

2. The base salary discussed during the interview was different from what was actually received. It was only when receiving the paycheck that I discovered the stated figure was reached by padding it with a bunch of allowances.

3. The leave system is designed as a trap. When I first joined, the system showed that I had three days of annual leave. After I requested annual leave, HR came over and said it was a system bug, then made me submit a personal leave request instead, resulting in a pay deduction. It was obviously not a bug, but rather some unknown reason for deceiving new employees into thinking they had three days of annual leave.

4. When short-staffed, they trick you into joining the company. Once a new hire has interviewed and joined, they start using all kinds of verbal abuse to tell you to look for another job, with supervisors taunting you to resign on your own and making things difficult for you with all sorts of excuses.

5. There are piles of pointless odd jobs, such as moving house, sawing boards, installing office partitions, pushing carts, and packing items (??), leaving you no time to do the essential work of an engineer. Then they suddenly say that you are not familiar enough with your core duties and give you a poor performance review. This has absolutely no connection with the performance evaluation method originally described. The supervisor tries every possible way to target you. They are not professionally competent, but are very good at messing with employees.

6. After the company relocated, it provided only a shuttle bus and motorcycle parking spaces. Applications for parking spaces were rejected because the distance was too great; only supervisors and employees with connections or influential backgrounds were guaranteed parking. Employees who took the shuttle bus could not work overtime because of the bus schedule, and were verbally threatened and harassed because of this.

7. Employees are told to pay out of pocket for all items needed for work and cannot apply for reimbursement, such as computer monitors, USB drives, and data cables.

8. The training is poor and unprofessional. Usually, they explain something only once and expect you to remember it. They even look impatient when you take notes during the explanation, allowing you only to temporarily memorize it. The person explaining things often only half-understands them and is confused themselves. They insist that they taught you things they never mentioned and claim that meetings that never took place had been held and that you simply forgot. They dump a pile of documents written by predecessors on you and expect you to learn everything from them. The predecessors' training documents were merely written to appease the company and are fundamentally unclear.

9. Despite not paying adequate salaries, they require employees to study on their own after work. Before a long holiday, they deliberately announce that there will be an exam when everyone returns, just to torment employees.

10. The benefits are terrible. Even going to a baseball batting cage requires paying out of pocket.

11. The year-end banquet food is awful—Vietnamese cuisine.
