Entering a job through a scam (or through someone else’s referral) is usually a negative experience, because these companies’ operations and purposes are fraudulent. What kind of experience can you expect from a company that is about to shut down—terrible or cool? You should consider that the experience may affect your career prospects, because future employers will not view this kind of work experience favorably on your résumé.

HR may use fairy-tale-like stories or dream-like promises to attract applicants, offering high pay, easy work, and seemingly unreal job opportunities. These should all raise your suspicions.

If, during the interview process, the company asks you to provide important documents such as your identification card or bankbook, do not give them anything! In Korea, they may ask you to use an ATM card to purchase a laptop under a real-name registration system. Do not rush to sign any contract, especially one containing unreasonable terms, such as setting extremely high performance targets and using various methods to force you to meet them, resulting in immense work pressure every day.
