台灣施舒雅美容世界股份有限公司
Pros

Employee discount (but it’s still very expensive)

Occasional clearance sales on products nearing their expiration date—sometimes you can find a bargain

Cons

The most senior Taiwanese manager has poor emotional control. Employees are expected to loudly greet everyone in Japanese when arriving at and leaving work, just to make their presence felt. During recruitment, senior management promised that the company’s conditions would be better than those required by the Labor Standards Act, but in practice they may not understand the regulations. Employees are often asked to arrive early for meetings without being given compensatory hours. Attendance deductions are severe, so when you are sick, it is better not to take sick leave to avoid being reprimanded by management. Not having a cleaning lady saves money, so employees have to take turns doing cleaning duties. Even on payday, you have to wait until near the end of the following month to receive the previous month’s salary. None of this was mentioned during the interviews. They are really good at exploiting employees—from work hours and wages to using staff for cleaning duties. Truly “diversified development.”

Senior employees who have stayed keep getting promoted, but new hires are explicitly told that they will not be promoted, since it is obvious from the business situation that the company cannot expand. Senior employees can browse Facebook and look through department-store flyers during work hours. There are major cultural differences, and there is no real prospect for the future.
