Pros

The colleagues are all very nice.

It’s rare to encounter so many good colleagues in the workplace.

Cons

The company’s policies and benefits have major loopholes. Before joining the company, you should study the law carefully. Labor laws and such are still stuck several years in the past, even though they have been changed many times—they have not been updated at all and still follow outdated rules. Therefore, you have to actively fight for all your rights yourself; otherwise, they act as if nothing happened. When you ask about it, they say, “I forgot”??

It’s quite absurd that this conclusion can actually come from a boss.

This company’s perfect-attendance bonus is apparently included in your salary instead of being paid separately. So if you take personal leave, not only will half a day’s pay be deducted, but your perfect-attendance bonus will also be deducted!

First of all, Boss M gives people the impression that he looks down on others. He constantly disdains people and is extremely self-righteous.

When you often talk to him, you can feel how perfunctory his attitude is. He also has absolutely no sense of time. Meetings scheduled with him for 3 p.m. are usually delayed by an hour before they can actually begin. Either a friend has come over and he wants to chat, or he has invited too many people to the meeting. He has no control over his schedule at all, causing meetings to be pushed back and preventing work from proceeding smoothly. Even if you manage to start the meeting on time, Boss M often suddenly leaves to chat with vendors or friends, leaving you sitting there waiting for him in the office. Extremely inefficient!

Meetings are also extremely inefficient. Communication is truly a major obstacle. He keeps aggressively asking how you plan to solve these issues. When you offer an idea, he keeps arguing against it and acts as if he cannot understand how you could think that way. He says he has a poor memory, so every meeting requires a written record and everything must be written down. But every time you do so, he finds other reasons to argue back, or accuses you of recording things incorrectly, saying that he never said it that way last time. Every meeting with him is an enormous headache.

Meetings should solve problems, but every time it feels like participating in a debate competition with him. He loves arguing against everything employees say. When you say something he cannot refute, he starts going in circles, or exaggerates and redirects your issue while blaming you for something else.

Every meeting reveals a new version of him. During meetings, he keeps contradicting theories he proposed previously and then comes up with new ones. Very often, you do something according to his instructions, only to be told next time, “Why did you do it this way? That’s not what I said last time.” Even when there is a record, he can still claim that you remembered it incorrectly, leaving employees confused. So are we supposed to follow your instructions or not?

He often gets sudden ideas and immediately tells you to do something, expecting you to do it at once. He thinks one person can handle ten things at the same time. He keeps piling tasks on you, then asks why you have not finished everything, why you cannot finish, and why you are taking so long.

You need to be mentally prepared not to expect that you can simply focus on doing your own job. Whenever there is a shortage of staff, he will additionally ask you to do other people’s work. The division of responsibilities is extremely unclear, and the tasks are all over the place.

The working environment is poor, with lots of dust and outdated equipment.

In front of new employees, he pretends to be a very generous boss, saying that any equipment problems can be solved by replacing the equipment with new ones.

In reality, we have reported these issues to him many times. He either delays by saying they will be replaced later, or tells you not to complain about the equipment and to improve your own work abilities—to survive in a harsh environment??? I just came here to work, not to participate in some outdoor reality show. In reality, he simply has no intention of making any changes.

There is no standardized SOP. Everything is chaotic, including internally. Boss M and the manager are even in meetings all day long, yet I never feel that anything changes after their meetings. They are just wasting time and their lives. Despite holding so many meetings, there has been no change to the system—not even the slightest change.

You have to figure everything out yourself. If you cannot think of a solution, he criticizes you for not discussing it. If you go to him to discuss it, he says that this kind of thing does not need to be brought to him and that you should not mention it next time. Then he says that everything must be reported in the future. After going through this several times, your head will genuinely explode! Whenever you report an issue, you cannot get a solution. He only comes out to resolve it and yell at people when things are truly about to explode. If he really has procrastination issues, I advise him not to become a boss.

He is a very typical old-school boss who exploits employees and disrespects their professional expertise. He loves deducting money and will find all kinds of loopholes to make deductions! He deducts your performance-related pay! He says one thing and does another!

If you are thinking of joining, really think twice!!
