You can take the candy intended for the farewell ritual.
It would be better if you reported directly to a manager in the United States,
or worked under a manager who had been transferred back to Taiwan from the United States.
There is a fixed clock-in and clock-out schedule, and overtime pay must be “applied for.” So far, I have never heard of an application being approved.
It comes from a department with “RD” in its name.
At Bade, you need to “clock in” to eat in the cafeteria at noon; in the past, eating in the company cafeteria in Zhonghe required purchasing meal tickets.
There is no overtime pay. If you leave work after 7 p.m., your manager thinks you left too early.
They especially like to use roast chicken as a threat.
Managers all care about saving face, take on work indiscriminately, and directly shift the blame onto their subordinates.
Although the position is Engineer, it requires handling a great deal of miscellaneous work completely unrelated to the job: supporting HR, helping General Affairs, taking out the trash, going to work areas to organize things for others, and writing oversight reports for other departments so they can take credit. If you tell your manager that these are not your responsibilities, you will be scolded for being disrespectful and making them look bad.
They demand a 200% standard, but the salary is not even 20% of what the workload and professional knowledge warrant. They make grand promises and require you to do work several levels above your position, yet when it comes to salary and job grade, they say, “I can’t help you negotiate for it. It’s not something I can control. You should think about how good your future could be; don’t just think about your salary.”
Managers are best at talking about how things should be done while completely ignoring the workload below. After all, once someone leaves, there will always be someone else to replace them.
Promotion and salary increases are all question marks.
I hope this post can save someone from making the same mistake and encourage them to spend their time elsewhere.
