The company’s benefits are better than some, but not as good as others.
The unit I joined was very small, but everyone kept their own agendas and only looked out for themselves. The entire unit also had no real mentoring system, leaving newcomers at a loss. When my supervisor instructed me to obtain information from colleagues, they would play games and refuse to provide it, or give me incomplete information. There is a reason for the high turnover rate. The supervisor also pretended nothing was wrong and spent all day in inexplicable meetings. Newcomers who knew nothing were still sent directly to participate in meetings, which was a huge waste of time. Moreover, the unit had no clear vision for the future. It wanted to develop every kind of product and follow whatever others were doing, leaving employees completely at a loss, like headless flies. Staying on would only mean gritting my teeth and enduring it; I don’t feel that I could accumulate any worthwhile experience there.
You absolutely cannot understand what it is like to be in this situation unless you have worked there. I once thought it was a technology company, but in reality, many aspects were based on the typical mindset of Taiwan’s traditional industries: extremely conservative and not innovative at all. I sincerely recommend that anyone considering joining first search online for other people’s experiences, or see whether they know anyone in the relevant unit. It definitely doesn’t hurt to ask around and learn more.
