I went to the interview, and at first two HR representatives spoke with me. I felt that the HR representatives understood more than the person who spoke with me later. I was subsequently told that the department manager was on leave, so an engineer was asked to interview me instead. The other person gave me the impression that they had not yet gotten up to speed and had been brought in at the last minute to interview me. Overall, this left me with a poor impression. After all, the department manager is the one hiring; regardless, the manager should at least review and interview the candidates. Bringing in someone unrelated to interview me made me feel that everyone’s time was wasted.
