威力鑽石工業股份有限公司
Pros

The colleagues are fairly pleasant to work with.

Cons

Simply put, this is a very traditional sunset industry.

Keywords: low wages, outdated company systems, old-fashioned senior management, irregular working hours, no opportunities for salary increases, immature production technology, foreign migrant workers making up the majority, no opportunities for learning or growth, family-owned business

Although the company was established nearly 30 years ago, its internal systems are still severely lacking, and its production technology remains immature. There is little coordination between departments, employees have no performance evaluation standards, and apart from signing documents, there is absolutely no pre-employment training. Most employees are either elderly workers or foreign laborers; the longtime employees are not afraid of being laid off, while among the foreign workers, there are always a few troublemakers causing problems. The result is a nearly 50% product defect rate, and at the end of every month, everyone is constantly scrambling to meet deadlines. The company is currently grooming a successor, but the successor lacks practical experience and does not know how to prescribe the right remedy for the problem. It feels like they are simply throwing money and resources around carelessly. Because of their past experience working for a Japanese company, they insist on modeling everything after Japanese corporate management and order everyone below them to digitize and archive all documents, increasing everyone’s workload and causing deadlines to be postponed again and again. Until one hour before the end of the workday, there is no way to know whether overtime will be required that day. Arguing before leaving work every day has become part of the routine. You might think the low pay would be bad enough, but don’t even dream of having the most basic work-life balance! The company systems are outdated, senior management is old-fashioned, and the opinions of those below are completely ignored. Their tunnel vision is extremely serious, resulting in the attitude of “everyone sweeps the snow from their own doorstep and ignores the frost on their neighbor’s roof.” Departmental factional disputes mean that even people capable of solving problems no longer want to solve them. The greatest hope is simply that when the clock strikes quitting time, the mess will not happen to land right in front of your desk. Whoever’s desk it lands on is the unlucky one!

New hires don’t stay long. The colleagues are fairly pleasant to work with, of course, because they can’t recruit anyone...

Suitable for liberal arts graduates fresh out of school to come and try it out, then switch jobs after two or three years. If that’s not you, please don’t come—you deserve better!
