Other than the director occasionally treating us to drinks when she is in a good mood, and the director’s wife occasionally treating us to some delicious food she has cooked, there are absolutely no other advantages.
On the day I started working, I had already put on makeup—and it was a full face of makeup (I had never put on makeup before, and I didn’t have time to buy cosmetics, so I had to borrow them from my sister). In the morning, I wiped off the eyeshadow because it looked like I had been punched. The director’s wife said that my skin was too dark and that I wouldn’t do, because she wanted Japanese-style girls. So may I ask: are you looking for pretty girls rather than people who take their work seriously?
Later, during work, I was criticized for walking too slowly and told I looked like a child. I don’t understand what there was to criticize about walking normally. Did I have to run up the stairs and fall down for that to count as walking?
There was also something a senior coworker had taught me once (I hadn’t even done it once myself; I had only watched). I was expected to know it after just one explanation. I really have never seen anyone who could become completely proficient enough to work as a dental assistant without having done something themselves even once. Then, when I made a mistake (despite never having done it before), she said, “I don’t think you’re suitable for this. You don’t seem to have the desire to take this job seriously.” So I’d like to ask: who would still have the mental energy to do this job under those circumstances? I was already busy learning so many things; I had no energy left to worry about anything else. I also seriously tried to remember everything so I could do it myself (without looking at a model), and she said I wasn’t being proactive?
Finally, I admit that my memory may not be very good, and I failed the pharmacology exam. But the director’s wife directly berated me, saying, “You can’t even remember something this simple?” May I ask, am I your dog or something? Can’t you explain things properly instead of yelling? Do you think I’m your domestic worker?
Then, after I resigned, they would only pay my wages in cash and refused to transfer them to my bank account. Under the Labor Standards Act, wages must be paid on the designated payday (before this, my salary had been paid by bank transfer). So why did it have to be done this way after I left? Are you trying to evade taxes, thinking we wouldn’t know? Or do you think we’re easy to deceive?
All I can say is: please, absolutely do not come work here. This is by far the most outrageous and unreasonable workplace I have ever encountered in my life.
