The only advantage of working front-of-house at Que, the restaurant specializing in grilled whole logs inside a hotel in Songshan District, is the high hourly wage. The coworkers are very nice.

They are very good at exploiting employees. In such a large restaurant, there are sometimes only two employees on duty, and never more than three at most—completely embodying the attitude of a stereotypical old-school boss: making one person do the work of two.

Even if you want to resign, they still require you to finish all the shifts they scheduled for you. In the end, they will even say that you were not up to the job and had a bad work attitude: “You were already doing the work of two people by yourself, and your work ability still wasn’t good?”

Basically, if you work an eight-hour shift, don’t expect to go to the restroom, because the employee restroom requires an access card and is on a different floor. There is only one access card, so coming to work feels like a test of whose bladder can last longer. If you go to the restroom, your coworkers suffer—especially when only two people are on duty and there are many customers.

The scope of work is very broad, from delivering dishes and clearing plates to washing glasses, cleaning beverage containers, and taking out the trash.

All I can say is, if you think you can take on the work of ten people by yourself, and you are both fast and strong, you are welcome to apply. The coworkers are very nice—except for the supervisors.
