At this company, the customer is always right. Customers can return products whenever they file a complaint. The assistant manager cares a lot about Google reviews, and it is quite pitiful for employees working here—the company has employees handle renovations and redecorating instead of hiring professionals!
The smell of cooking fumes is very strong; you have to use your lungs as air filters and end up inhaling until you get pneumonia. Rat feces and urine often appear on products. Many expensive products are not locked up or cannot be locked up, and when they are stolen, the employees on duty have to pay for them.
The online department supervisor often lectures employees after work until midnight because of poor performance (with no overtime pay).
The workday is 10 hours, and after work you often still receive company messages or have meetings, without being paid. The process for receiving sales commissions is very complicated, and it is unclear whether they will actually pay them. The assistant manager and supervisors (who form a mutually flattering clique) may take a dislike to someone and try every possible way to force them out. For example, the boss originally ordered that goods from mainland China did not need to be inventoried. Several years later, the assistant manager realized that they needed to be counted. If a store happened to have an employee he disliked and the inventory was short by 300,000, that employee was made to pay, or was told to resign voluntarily and pack up and leave. There have also been incidents of sexual harassment by supervisors. The senior female supervisor, Ms. Li, coldly brushed one case aside by saying, “You’re only bringing this up now?” This company has factions and does not accept employees’ opinions. Any shortage of money every day has to be paid for by employees. You have to stand while eating, and when customers arrive, you must immediately stop eating and proactively serve them, which creates a terrible impression! (Employees are pitifully treated and have no way to get proper rest.) When tools urgently need to be purchased and charged to the company account, Assistant Manager Liao still scolds employees for thinking they are too expensive (even though supplies had been requested in advance and were only purchased because they never arrived).
The company uses LINE on mobile phones and Skype on computers to issue announcements. The contradiction is that supervisors scold you for not reading messages on your phone, but if you read them, surveillance cameras may record you using your phone. All of the company’s stores are filled with surveillance cameras, and the boss, Assistant Manager Liao, Supervisors Li and Wu, and others watch at any time. Supervisors also give inconsistent instructions. Supervisor A may tell you to do something, while Supervisor B sees it on the camera and asks why you are doing that now, saying that serving customers must take priority, so you can only put down what you are doing. Then Assistant Manager C asks why you never do anything properly. You are not allowed to play music at work because of copyright concerns, so you have to work in silence. The company has many unreasonable lists of fines imposed on employees. You cannot stand at the counter continuously because someone may think you are not working. (When two employees work in a day, they discuss and mutually arrange how to divide the work.)
There are piles of miscellaneous and menial tasks. Even with only two people working, the shelves must never have empty hooks. You have to restock, receive deliveries, answer customers’ questions, process returns, handle Panda orders, check out customers, organize the warehouse, locate products and arrange transfers. The air conditioner also leaks, but repair requests are not handled. The assistant manager says the company needs to save money and tells employees to deal with things themselves. If products are damaged by water, employees have to handle it themselves. The company is unfriendly toward some employees and is a family-run business. It is a stingy, exploitative, unscrupulous company with extremely high turnover. This company does not want normal people; as long as you are willing to flatter them and are sufficiently servile, you are the kind of employee they want. It is full of emotional manipulation! Talent? What we want are servants!! The actual job duties do not match the job description shown on the recruitment website. Anyone planning to attend an interview or report for work is advised to check online reviews first and think very carefully before proceeding! You can be fired or targeted just for requesting leave.
