Pros

1. Leaving work on time, suitable for those who need to pick up their children

2. Leave requests are always approved

3. Cleaning staff are hired to clean the work environment

4. Indoor parking is provided

5. People without work experience can apply; there is a severe shortage of frontline employees

Cons

1. Salaries and benefits follow an extremely minimalist approach. There are no year-end parties, spring banquets, or employee trips. The year-end bonus is already small, but management still shows no consideration for employees and unilaterally decided to pay it in two installments.

2. Performance is evaluated every month. The evaluation criteria often include personal emotions, without following consistent, established principles.

3. There is no salary adjustment system. Long-serving employees who have worked for more than ten years have received only one salary increase, and it was less than 1%.

4. Management thinks they know and must interfere with everything, leaving little room for discussion when carrying out work.

5. Employees who have not stayed for a full year are forced to purchase uniforms. The total cost of all the uniforms exceeds NT$20,000 (see Article 22, Paragraph 2 of the Labor Standards Act).

6. External training is provided, but employees must sign a consent form. If they resign, they must reimburse the costs apportioned according to their length of service.

7. The perfect-attendance bonus is included in the salary. Perhaps they do not understand the definition of a bonus?

8. Bonuses for the three major festivals do not exceed NT$1,000. Gift boxes are not given to every employee; the boss chooses favored employees to receive them.

9. There is not even a coffee machine or tea bags in the pantry.

10. Although it is a factory, no set meals are provided. Employees have to order boxed meals, and they are not particularly cheap either.

11. There are no year-end parties or spring banquets. At most, the company holds a raffle in the factory. The raffle prizes are almost all the company’s own unsold products. As if that were not enough, prizes are drawn according to seniority. For employees below a certain number of years of service, the grand prize is only NT$3,000 in cash; for employees above a certain number of years, the grand prize is only NT$10,000 in cash (isn’t that less than what you would give your family and elders in red envelopes?). In addition, every employee is given a cold food-truck burger and a bubble tea, to be eaten while sitting on a bench.

11. The minimum amount of annual leave that can be taken is half a day. There is no grace period for being late. If you need personal leave, taking personal leave results in the loss of your perfect-attendance bonus.

12. There are many ineffective meetings. Meetings must be held every morning, and a company-wide meeting is held every month. Employees are required to attend even when the content is unrelated to their own department, and they must also complete a questionnaire. Forgetting to complete it results in a NT$2,000 fine (the company is very stingy with bonuses and benefits but has no qualms about deducting money from employees).

13. The work atmosphere is poor. Management frequently calls people out and berates them during meetings.

14. The New Year announcement appears to let employees choose to work one fewer day, but in practice, some frontline employees are forced to use annual leave (see Article 38, Paragraph 2 of the Labor Standards Act).
