Partially remote work available
1. They didn’t even understand my expertise before inviting me to interview for a product manager position. Only after asking questions did I find out that it was basically an odd-jobs PM role stuck between sales and engineering.
2. The head of Department A saw my résumé and asked HR to invite me to interview for a PM position in Department A. A few minutes later, apparently realizing something was off, they casually passed me on to the head of Department B and had me interview for a PM position in Department B instead.
3. On the day of the interview, I asked what experience on my résumé had caught the company’s attention and led them to invite me. The head of Department B said they didn’t know, and that it was probably just that the head of Department A had glanced at my résumé, thought it looked good, and wanted to have a chat—but later changed their mind and tossed my résumé over here instead. I was speechless. What the hell are job seekers to you people?
4. They showed extreme disrespect toward recent graduates. HR at other companies looked at my résumé and portfolio and even invited me to interview for senior product manager positions. This company didn’t look at anything; after casually skimming a few pages, they said I was obviously a blank slate who could only expect a monthly salary of just over NT$30,000.
5. The interviewer was fairly courteous, but extremely self-important. They thought the electronics and telecommunications industries were the most impressive, and even asked what I meant by “using data analysis and insights to optimize software products”—they had never heard of it. People like this in Taiwan will never improve.
6. It’s actually a grandchild company of Taiwan Mobile and a subsidiary of Taiwan Star Telecom (you can look up the ownership percentages online), but the manager claimed that the company itself was Taiwan Mobile and freely basked in the parent company’s reflected glory.
7. The company must have been short-staffed for an awful position, because they recruited people so casually. None of the managers seriously looked at résumés or portfolios. As soon as they saw that you had no work experience, they automatically assumed you were just an inexperienced newbie with nothing special, waiting to come in and follow the manager’s orders.
8. I immediately gave up on proceeding to the second interview. LOL, I’m not falling into this trap. I advise everyone: if you have any other options, do not join this company—especially if you don’t have much work experience.
