Cons

Although this company is Hong Kong-owned,

it is the Taiwan branch, so ultimately it has Taiwanese corporate culture.

The salary is not particularly high, and the bonus system is also poor.

The company culture is terrible as well.

I passed two video interviews previously.

Later, I went on-site for an interview to learn more about the company environment.

After the interview,

while chatting “casually” with the manager, I asked how he viewed using one’s phone during work hours.

I asked because of my past work experience: some managers completely prohibit it, while others think it is fine as long as it is not excessive.

So I thought I should ask in advance to avoid complaining later that the company micromanages too much.

As a result, that manager later became defensive

and told HR that I had asked, “How long can you use your phone during work hours? On average, how long can you use it?”

Seriously, who would ask, “How long can you use it on average?”

It is obvious that this could not have been what a job candidate asked. I did not even ask how much the average year-end bonus was.

While riding the elevator with HR, I chatted and asked where people usually ate lunch nearby, because there did not seem to be many restaurants along the way from the MRT station.

As a result, HR reported to the HR manager that “the candidate said the area nearby is not lively.”

What the hell?

I am applying for a job—why would I care whether the area nearby is lively? I only wanted to know where I could get lunch.

I passed two video interviews at first. The reason they arranged a third, on-site interview was supposedly so I could see the company environment.

So I could not ask what places there were nearby to eat? I could not ask how the manager managed phone use during work hours?

Yet the questions that got passed around differed somewhat from what I had actually asked.

That shows how skilled this company is at distorting and spreading rumors.

They are also extremely thin-skinned: if a job candidate asks a few more questions and touches on something sensitive, they will get embarrassed, become angry, and reject you.

At the end of this interview, HR initially told me, “The manager thinks your technical skills are fine; it just depends on whether you like the environment here.”

But after I quit my job, they rejected me using the two reasons mentioned above.

A truly garbage company.

I heard that employees are also required to perform at the year-end party.

Bonuses are calculated using a formula.

Previously, someone on the “薪水比較” website said that someone received only a little over 100 in a raise, while their profit-sharing bonus was only 10,000.

The stated working hours are seven hours, but unless you arrive and leave on time every day—

packing up and leaving immediately when the time comes—

if you stay one extra hour before leaving,

your working hours effectively become eight hours, but when you take leave, your pay is deducted based on seven hours.

It is not actually any more advantageous.

They claim that you receive 1x days of annual leave upon joining the company,

but someone on the “薪水比較” website said there is an unwritten rule:

you cannot use all of it, and if you do use it all—or take too much—you will be blacklisted.

In Taiwan’s life insurance industry, I still recommend going to a large company, such as Fubon or Cathay.

The year-end bonus is higher (anywhere from 6 to 11 months), and the systems and culture are also better.

There is something seriously wrong with this company~
