Pros

I’m Darren Hsieh, head of the PM department. I’m not anonymous either, and I take 100% responsibility for my personal statements.

It’s been since 2018 (five years ago) since my last post. At the time, someone left a comment asking, “I wonder if you’re still here?” (Yes, I’m still here!)

Over the past few years, the broader environment has changed (such as with COVID-19), and we’ve changed too—and for the better! For example:

1. Our organizational, administrative, and management procedures have been continuously optimized and simplified.

2. We developed a project management system that effectively assists PMs and engineers with their related tasks.

3. The workweek is 40 hours (overtime is now rare, and when projects do require temporary overtime, employees can still get proper rest afterward).

4. Horizontal and vertical communication, division of responsibilities, collaboration, and coordination within the department have become easier.

5. Management is more people-oriented and flexible. We adopted WFH early on and later provided support for situations such as school closures.

6. Employee training and problem-solving support have been further strengthened.

7. There are more partners to tackle challenges with, so there are fewer firefighting heroes needed.

8. The working atmosphere is good, with little office politics.

For an SME that has been operating for more than 20 years, the composition of the management team has remained unchanged, but the company’s systems have continued to improve proactively. This reflects the efforts, goodwill, sincerity, and care of the management team, among other things!

Of course, from our employees’ perspective, the company is still not perfect and can continue to improve. However, the company has continued to operate steadily and improve its workplace environment and benefits system. Employee turnover has decreased, and colleagues have gradually started families, had children, and entered the next stages of their lives.

These changes really need to be shared with everyone. We sincerely welcome you to join us and work together to advance the informatization of our country’s policies and make life more convenient and provide better assistance to the public.

Cons

1. The general manager has many initiatives they want to promote, but there is a lack of a good assistant to follow up, so some things remain pending indefinitely.

2. Whether externally or internally, our presentation and communication could be improved.

3. Practices passed down from predecessors and long-standing routines are not necessarily good. Questioning them is how we make progress.
