The company is primarily engaged in the solar power generation industry. Its business covers everything from preliminary assessment, construction of power plants (installation of solar panels), and operational management (including security monitoring), to evaluating the investment benefits of leasing land (sites), and revenue allocation from selling electricity to Taiwan Power Company (Taipower), among other things. Accordingly, its contracts include land leases signed with landowners or companies, construction contracts, security monitoring contracts, electricity revenue contracts, and so on. In addition, the company previously invested in another company in the solar-related industry—Dingri Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (formerly Leopard King Sunshine Energy Technology Co., Ltd.); however, it withdrew from the board of directors in 2019.
Before the interview, an email is sent asking applicants to complete online forms, including the “Basic Personnel Information Form” and the “Applicant Interview Questionnaire.” Both forms contain quite a lot of questions and take approximately one to two hours to complete. During the interview, the interviewer asks very detailed questions about these two forms.
At the beginning of the interview, applicants first give a brief self-introduction and overview of their previous work experience. The interviewer, however, asks very detailed questions about all employment information, including the duties and responsibilities of each position and each period of work experience, reasons for leaving, and reasons for choosing the next job. They also ask what the applicant did during periods of unemployment, how many companies they interviewed with, why they did not choose those companies, how they got along with colleagues in previous jobs, and how colleagues or supervisors would describe them. Many other questions are based on the questions or answers in the Applicant Interview Questionnaire, so it is also important to remember what was written when completing it.
The questions I asked in return were related to the large number of engineering certifications listed for selection on the Basic Personnel Information Form (such as certifications related to power distribution and construction), as well as whether I could accept being assigned to rotate between positions. Since the company has branches in Tainan and Taichung, I asked whether positions were likely to be transferred frequently. They replied that the form was a standardized online form, and all positions use the same form, which is why it was designed that way. As for transfers, arrangements would only be made if another department had an opening and the employee proactively discussed and proposed it with their supervisor. In principle, transfers would not occur.
Finally, because other candidates still needed to be interviewed, it would take approximately a little over a week before notification of a second interview. The second interview would mainly be conducted in person at the company with the department supervisor. Other benefits and compensation-related matters would be discussed in detail at that stage.
My impression was that the company asks for a great deal of information, so the online forms need to be completed thoroughly in advance, with clear and fluent wording. The company also seemed to be looking for someone who could work as part of a team while handling relationships with both colleagues and customers. In particular, the company deals with a large number and variety of customers, each with different invoicing schedules or requirements, various unit-price calculations, and all kinds of different contracts as mentioned above. Therefore, they place even greater emphasis on carefully and repeatedly checking details
