There is a 1.5-hour lunch break. Other than that, there don’t seem to be any other advantages.
This company mostly takes on projects for government agencies.
I am a frontend engineer at this company, belonging to the Software Department.
The head of the Software Department also serves as the PM and loves taking on urgent projects.
They also pressure UI/UX staff to produce an initial draft for the client within a very tight timeframe.
Usually, this means requiring you to work unpaid overtime to rush things out for them (with no overtime pay).
Frontend engineers are also frequently asked to change things here and there halfway through a project.
The process often ends up being completely different after repeated changes.
If everything cannot be completed by the deadline, it is all blamed on the frontend team,
regardless of how much the UI/UX visuals or the process have been changed.
You have to work extra overtime to finish everything by the deadline, and there is no overtime pay.
If you ask the boss for overtime pay, they will argue that having to work overtime means your abilities are insufficient.
You are not allowed to ask for overtime pay; they will challenge you by saying, “Why can everyone else do it but you?”
In fact, the frontend engineers this company has recently hired are all beginners. The salaries they can offer are not enough to hire experienced people.
Everyone just accepts their bad luck, quietly works overtime, and completes the work themselves.
It is very common to see backend engineers and interns working until 9 or 10 p.m. before leaving.
The supervisor will bring up the so-called responsibility-based work system, but they have never considered that
this company and position are fundamentally not applicable to such a system, and it has not been reported to or approved by the local authorities.
If you have a strong willingness to endure exploitation and do not mind the low pay, this job will be very suitable for you!!
Here are a few more unpleasant things to add:
When you develop a high fever and take leave during vaccination periods,
this supervisor will show absolutely no concern for your physical condition. They only worry about the project deadline and tell you to propose ways to catch up with the schedule.
This supervisor is truly outstanding!!!
