I worked at a headquarters unit in a remote rural area. Because the workplace was in the countryside, the local plant manager had no authority over us, while headquarters had the authority but couldn't effectively manage us from Taipei. As a result, the unit supervisor had a very easy time and did whatever they wanted. Working hours started at 8:00, but they came in every day between 8:30 and after 9:00. Once there, they spent the whole day scrolling on their phone, chatting on the company's messaging software, spending half an hour to an hour and a half in the bathroom, looking at Bitcoin, and so on. Their range of activity was basically limited to their own desk and the bathroom, and they generally didn't manage anything. Two colleagues helped cover for the supervisor's lateness, so they received many perks in return: the supervisor would approve official leave for them to go home and take time off, assign them very comfortable tasks, and so on. During work, they would hide away to chat, look at stocks, wear Bluetooth earphones to watch shows, listen to music or radio, and even sleep. I worked there for nearly four years. They were easy to get along with and treated me well too. When vendors gave gifts, they would also distribute some to me privately, while others hadn't received any. If you didn't want to work, you could just tell them the equipment was broken and that was enough. In any case, the supervisor didn't manage anything. The unit also had plenty of money, so they could buy whatever they wanted. There were only a few people who were difficult to get along with, but they had little authority, so there was no need to be afraid of them—just don't get involved with their group. Overall, it was a very easy place to work, with good pay and little work. If it weren't so far from my boyfriend and my dog, I wouldn't have wanted to leave either. Highly recommend this company.
